Adriel was out flying in what she had heard from travelers were the something mountains. ( she couldn't remember) It seemed like a nice place, though she couldn't recall ever seeing mountains so high before. They seemed to never end, and she couldn't fly high enough to even see the tops of the mountains, for there was to great a lack of oxygen. Ad she circled around and around she spotted a very large ledge jutting out srom the side of one of the large cliffs. "perfect" she thought, as she aimed to land there for the night. As Adriel alighted onto the ground, she changed back into human form, and noticed something odd yet strangely familiar. The ground here wasn't cold and hard, like the other places she had rested at before. No, in fact, it was quit warm and rather soft. She looked down and saw, to her surprise, that the hard stone floor of the ledge was completely covered in a thick blanket of moss and some kind of plant she didn't recognize. She walked around and found that it wasn't really a ledge at all- it was more of a cave, with a very high ceiling, and it went back fairly far in to the mountain. At the moment, there were little fire bugs flying all around through the air, lighting up the dim cave and making it look like a fairyland. The moss went all the way up the walls of the cave, and other plants were growing around as well. Adriel did not know what to think of the moss and plants growing without a strace of dirt to grow on, but it seemed like a very lovely place, and she liked it imedietly. And, strange as it seemed, the warmth of the large cave seemed to be comming from the plants themselves! " Could it be?" she wondered, " but no, I haven't encountered anything like this for..........Oh well." She cast herself upon the mossy bed of greenery and slept better than she had for along time.

The night passd peacefully, without so much as a breath of wind to disturb the quiet tranquility of the caveren. Tiny blue fairys - what Adriel had earlier taken for fire bugs - were flying about, chattering and murmuring amongst themselves. The fairys only came out at night when their light could be seen ever so clearly, and because night-time is the time of magic and all things mysterious. That is precisely what the fairys were. No one knew for certain exactly what their purpose was - other than to lull many a night's wandering traveler to sleep with their song. A blue fairys song was supposed to be one of the most magical and eatheral sounds known to the world. Few knew that the "song" was really fairy language. They sleep through the days and live out the nights in a perfect harmony, their words lulling any to sleep who heard them. Adriel woke to find that dawn had already passed, and walked out to find the sun high in the sky, smiling down upon her. It was a new beautiful day, and there was nothing stopping her! Without even pausing to check out her cave, she jumped from the cliff and spread out her white wings, enjoying the way the wind slipped around her.She felt good and, for once, forgot about everything she had left behind - or what she had been called away from.
Often, in the beginnig, Adriel had missed her world so much she almost couldn't bear it. But that had been years ago, the day she had suddenly appeared here. She recalled those first lonely months she had spent, trying to make sense of all that had happened and at the same time, trying to survive in the new surroundings. She had learned though, how to survive. Throught shear willpower and the hope to someday find a way back again, she forced herself to learn the ways of this world and to travel. It had been a hard time of her life, but memories, hopes had kept her alive and heart beating throught it. Never staying in one place more than a few months, Adriel hoped that this place would be different. She liked what she had seen while flying over the countryside, what with towns, farms, and best of all, beings like herself dwelt there. Not exactly alike, but similar. Talking animals, half animal humans like herself, and regular humans. It reminded her of home, though without the same comforts, of course. Here you had to work very hard to earn your keep, and Adriel had worked hard - very hard; always odd jobs that happened to need someone for a week or so. She had lived off of such jobs, and when there was no work, there was no money, food, or shelter. But that was about to change, though Adriel did not know it at the time. She was living in the present, just happy to have found someplace remotely comfortable and to have food to eat.
Unlike some of her ancestors, she was not a "bird of prey", so saying, she did not kill and eat other living animals; but, rather, lived soley off of plants, berries, roots and the like sort. It was normal to her, being raised that way from childhood. And it also made it much much easier to buy food, for meat was expensive. Once, when Adriel had been new to a town, she bought a slice of some strange, dark, hard substance that people around her seemed to enjoys very much. It had a strange taste in her mouth, like nothing she had ever eaten before. But when she asked the mand behind the cart what it was, he simply replied "quail", and she nearly fainted with surprise and disgust. Disgust at herself for being so foolish as to eat bird (her relation!) and surprise to see other seemingly bird-related people eating the same thing. There had been a man in the corner that had looked suspicously like an eaglet, with sharp talons for nails and a hooked nose, and feathers down his arms - though her had no wings. Some have no respect do they? she had thought, but soon got used to seeing such things as that.
Adriel fly farther and faster till she reached the hight of her quick energy, before slowing down and turning back to her mountain dwelling. She reached the cave within a few minutes and slowly landed on the cliff edge. Then she stepped into the cavren as she had the nioght before. But this time she wasn't tired, only curious. The heat emitting plants muffled the sound of her footsteps on the stone floor, and she noticed that the firbugs were gone, though their light mysteriously remained. She walked around the length of the caveren, running her hand along the wall of it. There were many lines in the wall, what looked to Adriel like some sort of written language - a story maybe - but was unknown to her. The lines were everywhere, she had not noticed before, but saw now. All the way up to the ceiling. "Curious," She thought, "If I had payed a decent amount of attention to anything Darius taught me, I would be able to identify at least Something about this script! Why, it even has numbers I suspect." If only Darius were there with her, she wouldn't care wether or not he recognised the strange markings, just to have the company of her old tutor! Or even better, the company of her sister! "No!" Adriel told herself sternly, "Don't go into the land of if only. Don't start thinking about them, because chances are, they've already forgotten about you." She sighed, and sat down trying to forget about things for awhile, trying to be as carefree as she had felt while flying that morning.
